Lauren’s Philosophy

""

Client-focused

Each of us has our own unique story with food. Our experiences make us who we are. Food is so much more than just fuel or medicine. Let’s work together to find food solutions that fit into your lifestyle as you work toward achieving your short and long term health goals.

""

Collaborative

You are the most knowledgeable person there is regarding your body. Full stop. Together (with your care team, ideally) let’s create a plan that feels achievable, sustainable and successful.

""

Creative

A goal of mine is to be a life-long learner. While standard teaching tools and educational models may be effective for some, I don’t tend to take a “one size fits all” approach. Teach me something new. Each new client is another opportunity to learn and I cherish the opportunity to grow.

Why work with a Registered Dietitian?

While a nutritionist may be trained in certain aspects of food and nutrition, a Registered Dietitian has completed a comprehensive curriculum (including supervised practice) that prepares them to be the experts in food and nutrition care. A Registered Dietitian will be able to use their foundational knowledge in human metabolism, food science, research literacy and psychology to provide a tailored, evidence based intervention to a variety of health concerns.

How do I pay?

I accept self pay and many insurances.

I am in-network with:
BCBS
BridgeSpan
HMA
Meritian
PacificSource Health Plans (Diabetes and eating disorders only)
Providence Health Plans
Samaritan Health Plans
Including IHN CCO

How do I know if I’m a good fit?

I recognize that a “good fit” in health care can be hard to find. After many years in the grocery business, I’ve found that good customer service is very important to me. If you find that we are not a good fit after 1-2 visits, I would be happy to connect you with another professional to meet your needs. I am a great networker and like to provide as many resources as I can for my clients to feel successful.

What can I expect during an appointment?

Initial visits are typically 60 minutes. These sessions include a full assessment of anthropometrics, labs, medical history, medications, dietary intake, food preferences/beliefs, grocery shopping habits, physical activity habits, past diets, as well as any other pertinent information related to your nutrition concerns.
I take and send out thorough notes after each visit including topics of our conversation and any goals set by the client.

Follow up visits are typically 45-60 minutes. These sessions are set aside to discuss what went well and what didn’t after the last visit. Behavior change is often nonlinear. Each visit is designed to build upon the next with the greater goal of supporting the client to achieve their health goals.

Do you offer in-person appointments?

No. At this time, all appointments are offered via secure telehealth videoconferencing.

Can you see clients outside of Oregon?

Sometimes, but not always. Please reach out if you are interested in meeting and live outside of Oregon. If anything, I’d be happy to connect you with another wonderful dietitian licensed in your state.

What is your cancellation policy?

Rescheduling and cancellations require a 24 hour notice.
Cancellations can be made by phone or secure messaging.
Please note that when late cancellations are made (within 24 of an appointment), a charge of $100 may occur.

What will we work on?

I am skilled in providing medical nutrition therapy to individuals with acute and chronic health concerns. I see clients for metabolic concerns (prediabetes, diabetes, PCOS) and cardiovascular related conditions (high cholesterol, high blood pressure), gastrointestinal concerns (IBS, SIBO, IBD), lifecycle nutrition (preconception, pregnancy, postpartum, lactation) and nutrition for general wellness.
Given my history in food system work (and because Google exists), it is important to me to provide evidence based counseling on nutritional topics of interest, including therapeutic diets. If you’re feeling generally overwhelmed around food and eating, or you are struggling with your eating habits, meeting together might be the help/support you need to help get you back on track to listening to your body cues (and shutting out the “noise”).
